How to backup Contacts on iPhone?

Connect your device

Please start iTools on your computer and connect your iOS device after successful installation.

By default, iTools can automatically detect your iOS device. If you have not connected your iOS device to your computer or your iOS device cannot be recognized, you will see "Connected but not recognized" on the interface.

Some reasons why the device cannot be recognized:

  • Abnormal USB interface and cable. You need to change another USB cable to plug it back in or change to another USB interface.
  • Drive component problems. You need to fix the driver.
  • For any other problem, you can contact us to get it resolved.

Basic information about the device

After successful connection, please click Device > Info > Contacts.

After successful login, you will find that you can not only check your contacts, basic mobile numbers, and contact groups and create groups, but you can also add contacts, export, and import contacts. You can even merge all contact records from multiple repeat contacts into a single contact.

Check and edit contacts

  1. Check: when you click to select a single contact, all the related details appear on the right side of the contacts.
  2. Edit: you can add or edit any information about the contact.
  3. Click the “Edit” button on the right side of the interface, you can change more information.
  4. Click the “Save” button, then the edited information can be saved. If there is something wrong with the edited details, you can click the “Cancel” button to cancel it.
  5. Add more information: Click the “ADD MORE” button, if you need to add more details.

The content above the frame will be shown by a scroll bar. If you want to delete any records, you just need to click the button on its right side.

Contacts group

  1. Check the group: click the “Hide Groups” button to display the hidden groups.
  2. Add groups: Click the “Add Groups” button. Then input the added group name into the text box and click anywhere else in the interface to save.
  3. Delete Group: Right-click on the group name and click the "delete" button, you can delete the group directly without any confirmation.
  4. Rename a group: Select a group and right-click it, then select the "rename" button.
  5. The following interface appears when you select "rename". Click anywhere else to save after entering a new name.
  6. Add or change groups: Select any contact and right-click it.

You can see 'Refresh', 'Delete', 'Edit Contact', and 'Add to Group' buttons. When you select a new group, you can add contacts to that group. it can still appear in the contact list at the same time, but not in different new groups.

Add contacts

  1. Click the “Add Contact” button, and you can see the interface appears.
  2. Now add all the information you need and save.

Import contacts

You can import all your contacts from your computer to your iOS device, and there are two methods for you to choose from. The contacts will appear in the list after import.

Export contacts (backup contacts)

You can click a contact to export it alone, or press the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard and click a contact to export multiple contacts. If you want to export all contacts, you can check the box at the top left to select all, then click "export" to export all contacts once and for all. In this way, you can backup iPhone contacts easily and smartly.

Delete contacts

Check the box in front of the contacts or the "Select All" box in the top left, then click the "Delete" button to remove unnecessary contacts.

Refresh contacts

Click the "Refresh" button to re-request contacts from your device.

Merge Contacts

If there are more than two repeat contacts, You can click the "merge" button, then all contacts with the same name will appear.

When you click the "Deduplicate" button at the bottom, all the information from the repeating contacts can be merged into the first contacts.

Find contact

If you want to find the contacts you need from your long contact list, you can click the search box and enter the contact name, and you will find the contacts quickly.

As you can see, iTools gives you an easier way to backup your contacts than iTunes or iCloud. Since iTunes and iCloud can't back up contacts alone, they back up everything on your iPhone when you just want to back up contacts. And when you want to restore your contacts, the content from iTunes and iCloud will overwrite the existing files and data on your iPhone, which is annoying. but with iTools, you can backup your contacts by yourself and restore them without any data loss on your iPhone.
